Messages inbox

The supplier inbox at /messages, one list of conversations with applicants and references, read first and written from a dialog.

/messages lists every conversation on your organization's applications and shows the selected one. It loads GET /v1/messages/inbox; sending posts to POST /v1/applications/:id/messages (see Messages and notifications API).

Who can use it#

  • Vendor-side users with messages.view. Sending needs messages.send on the server; without it the send is refused with a 403.
  • A customer uses their own inbox under /contractor/messages.

What you see#

  • The conversation list: one row per application and channel (internal, applicant or reference), with an unread count and the latest message. On a phone the list and the conversation are separate screens, with a back link.
  • The selected conversation reads by default: messages, attachments and a file list. Older messages page in from the history control.
  • New opens a dialog to start a conversation on an application you can already see.

Writing#

The conversation has one action bar. The button (Write a note, Message the contact, or Reply to the reference) opens a dialog with the text box and Attach. Sending closes the dialog and the message appears in the thread right away; if it fails it stays in the thread marked as failed with a retry.

  • Closing the dialog keeps the text as a draft for that conversation (Keep as draft). The bar says "Draft saved." Switching conversation keeps each draft separate.
  • Messages to the applicant or a reference are sent by email. Internal notes stay with your team.
  • Application detail has the same conversation for one application, under its Messages tab.
